碩士 === 國立臺北大學 === 企業管理學系 === 105 === This paper investigates the relation between corporate social responsibility (CSR) concern activities and the cost of bank loan of listed firms in Taiwan. This study classifies CSR concern data on four dimensions: environmental concern, information disclosure concern, other concern and employee concern. Firstly, empirical findings show that the frequency of CSR concern activities correlates positively with loan spread. Moreover, the results are more pronounced for firms with information disclosure concern and other concern. Secondly, this paper investigates the relation between collateral and CSR concern activities. Empirical evidences also show a positive correlation. Lastly, the relation among penalty charged by CSR concern activities, loan spread, and collateral is also investigated. The results indicate that firms which have been fined for other concern activities have a significant positive relation with loan spread and collateral. This study suggests that banks will take their impact on CSR concern activities into consideration when constructing loan policies.
