Previous studies focusing on Taiwan New Literature have pointed out that male writers used to treat female characters as instrumental objects to advocacy their political agenda in the novels so that the female images presented in their works were usually rigid. However, the processes of male protagonists’ subject construction are often overlooked. Also, the issue of male bonding between male protagonists and other male characters is rarely discussed carefully. Therefore, this thesis suggests that “Misogyny” theory proposed by Ueno Chizuko, the feminist sociologist in Japan, can be useful for analyzing the gender representations in these novels about love and marriage in the 1930’s. 張文薰 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 104 zh-TW
