In general, due to the inevitable deterioration of the device, it will fail more frequently as its age or usage increases. In order to reduce the number of failures, an appropriate preventive maintenance action should be performed by the lessor. For the lessor, the lessee may not only lease a single device at a time. Under this situation, how to perform preventive maintenance for many devices is a worthwhile research topic. The research topic of this paper focuses on the preventive maintenance policy of two leased devices. Age reduction method is used to describe the degree of preventive maintenance, the expected total maintenance cost models of two lease devices under individual and group preventive maintenance policies are constructed and the optimal individual and group preventive maintenance policy is obtained such that the expected total maintenance cost is minimized. Furthermore, the impact of the cost and time parameters on the optimal preventive maintenance policy are analyzed through numerical examples. Finally, the individual and group preventive maintenance policies for two leased devices are compared.
