But profit declines since the cost on PCT increase by years. Moreover, end users’ requirement to PCT quality is getting higher and higher. Therefore, how to balance cost reduction and quality issue becomes an important issue for the paper carrier tape manufacturers. This study aims at designing a new burnout process of paper carrier tape passive component, focusing on the present burnout process of L company. With method of DMADV applied, by steps of Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, Verify, and combining with SIPOC, fishbone diagram and brainstorming, to achieve reducing burning heat caused during the production process, and through this to decrease the electricity cost and production cost. Results of study showed that the new design of burnout process of passive component paper carrier tape with flashing did effectively decrease heat from 400-600°C to 100-200°C. Under the same circumstance of output, the consumption was 1,046,000 degrees and electricity expense was NTD3,005,963 on the old process in 2015. In 2017, the consumption and electricity cost on the new process was 588,221 degrees and NTD 1,690,253. In contrast to old process and new process, the consumption reduced 457,779 degrees and yearly electricity cost reduced NTD $1,315,710, which is around 43.77% of reduction. Furthermore by implementing the new design on the production process, the burnout color on the surface of the paper carrier tape was successfully removed, this made another success on the quality requirement. At the very last, outcome of this study could be taken as advices on the production process and improvement to L company and paper carrier tape manufacturers.
