The production season is from May to October in Taiwan. The edible stems of Z. latifolia Turcz can be consumed fresh or processed as a functional food resource, but the husk of Z. latifolia Turcz usually is agricultural waste. To comprehensive utilization of the husk of Z. latifolia Turcz, the present study aims to investigate the anti-inflammatory properties of the extract from the husk of Z. latifolia Turcz. The anti-inflammatory activities of the extract were determined by measuring the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines from the RAW264.7 murine macrophage cell line. Results showed that the propanediol extract from the husk of Z. latifolia Turcz (PE) significantly reduced LPS-induced TNF-α in RAW264.7. After 24 hours, the best inhibitory effect is achieved. However, there does not significant inhibitory effect on LPS-induced IL-1β and NO. In Mouse Cytokine 23-plex Assay showed that PE not only reduces LPS-induced TNF-α production, IL-6 and IL-10 production may also be affected. Therefore, we detect the effect of PE on IL-6 and IL-10 production in different time points. The results showed that PE on IL-6 production was not effect, but after 12 hours IL-10 production was inhibited. YANG, CHAO-HSUN 楊昭順 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 65 zh-TW
