Optical illusion brings doubts and dialectical thinking to creator’s lives repeatedly. Optical illusion is about having unlimited imagination for future and it brings more verification and challenge to the career of pattern design. At first, creators use hexagon as main design element and at the same time, adopt “Peripheral Drift Illusion” technique to design the pattern. After that, we use general pigment vinyl printing. For the final stage, pattern making, it is inspired by the work “Waiting” from Lucio Fontana, which beautifully conveys spatial concept. From the experiments, we discovered the illusion effect is limited when we apply the illusion pattern design on body curves but the effect is very significant when we apply it on one-piece three-dimensional cutting. Besides, we also discovered if the printing color is more colorful or with complementary color, the illusion effect will be very significant. If you see the illusion graphic pattern from the monitor, the effect will be very significant too. We can see from this finding that the “light” is one of the most important element in this experiment. The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of illusion printing and hope to bring beautiful visual experience, relaxation and cures to viewers. Among the works, geometric graphics combined with “Peripheral Drift Illusion” is adopted that brings diversity to the graphic patterns and uniqueness to the cloths.
