Summary:碩士 === 東吳大學 === 企業管理學系 === 105 === Due to that this thesis author still serves as a worker in the grassroots level of a bank and is never promoted even though she has been working for twenty-eight years in the bank, her career development is extremely not good and she feels very depressed and frustrated. In addition, she is going to face her retirement from the bank. According to the axiom that the best way to extricate oneself from the predicament is to strive hard for development. So, this author started to study in a graduate school and is pursuing a master's degree. Moreover, her thesis aims at exploring and understanding personal issues, and she hopes there are some breakthrough in her development. Therefore, her thesis study is on the issue of career development and retirement planning. In this study, the literature on career development and retirement planning was firstly examined. Different career development theories were introduced and analyzed in the first step and then the common phenomenon in career development were explored. Secondly, different types and methods of retirement plans were introduced, and then the common problems in retirement planning were explored. . This study is mainly done by case study method. A small number of cases will be interviewed on the issues of their career development and retirement planning. The differences in career development and retirement planning between the cases are comparatively analyzed, and then it is examined that how the previous differences are associated with the differences in the personalities, values, family relationships, life adaptation, economic security, health maintenance and recreational activities between the cases. After the interview study, the results of the interview study are further validated by a questionnaires study. The results of the study have a lot of new-findings, The more important and unexpected findings are: " Those at their own expense to invest in their own learning for developments, they can increase their competitive advantages in the workplace ", " Those can make deep friendship with their supervisors or cowokers with superior performance, they can get more help from the relationships for their career development. " , " Those know to start long-term investments since they are young, they can have more personal net wealth accumulation ." .Hoping the research results can be useful for business employees and for human resource management of business organizations.
