碩士 === 世新大學 === 社會發展研究所(含碩專班) === 105 === CHENG CHIAO, an adult autistic patient. Nothing separates him with normal people by looking at his appearance. On the other side, his disability of verbal expression leads him require assist in daily life. Anyhow, his comprehensive soul with a thoughtful heart and sensitive cognition can now fully express off through the tools of typing. CHENG CHIAO now spends most of his time with his father; therefore, his father has to work his way out to settle down CHENG CHIAO in possible future. This documentary record moments of father-and-son’s every day life and yet the realities and obstacles they face. Settling autistic children is a long path to go. They are the silent existence among most of the physical disabilities due to their unique condition. In fact, not only the autism but also all of the settling and cares of disability is a topic we all have to confront as a society. This documentary only presents the period within 2-3 years during grad school time. Life is so unpredictable; therefore the documentary will still be carrying on afterwards. This article contains the thesis and production of the documentary 〈I Am CHENG CHIAO〉. 1st chapter discuss the background, motivation and the purpose of project; 2nd chapter introduces filming subjects CHENG WEN CHENG and CHENG CHIAO. Using words to describe their lives and problems they have; 3rd chapter states whole producing process includes how to get into field research, to the filming stage and last the ideas of editing; 4th chapter is the editing script; 5th chapter gives conclusion to whole filming project along with the final result.
