Description
Summary:碩士 === 東海大學 === 社會工作學系 === 105 === In this study, we discussed the labor conditions, compensation and salary determinants of social workers in Kaohsiung region through the design of structured questionnaire, and we collected data, sent out 291 questionnaires, and collected 240 questionnaires. The effective respond rate is 82.5%, and the result as below: A. The respondents are mainly below 30 years old, single, female, from department of social work, universities and colleges graduate and did not get the certificate for senior social worker yet. Their seniorities in the present job are averagely 42 months, and their seniorities in social works are 68 months in total. The organizations that they are working for are mainly foundations, small and medium organizations, 3 position levels, non-religious; their income largely comes from local and central governments; their clients are mainly chiefly children and handicapped persons; they mainly provide family support, consultation, and referral services. B. As to labor conditions, we found that they are mainly hired by flexible ways, such as contract employee, project contract employee, and leased employee. Most of organizations follow the “Labor Standards Act” with respect to signing contract, setting up rules about labors and holidays; however, when it comes to labor time, overtime pay, labor and national health insurance, there are some organizations that breach the “Labor Standards Act”. C. As to compensation, we mainly took pay for position as a standard. The income of most respondents is between 33,000 NTD and 34,999 NTD, averagely speaking, it is lower than 35,000 NTD. In addition, the basic pay accounts more than 80% of the salary in total; there are around half of respondents who did not receive a pay increase within 1 year. As to the organizations with salary review system, seniority and certificate are the main consideration for salary review, and the amount of salary review is between 300 NTD and 7,000 NTD. Normally, the certificate brings an employee the highest amount of salary review, and most of salary review happened in the day when the employee took the office. Most of organizations have bonus, perquisite, and allowance, and the year-end bonus is the most normal. The other compensation include commuting allowance, profession perquisite, year-end bonus, and degree perquisite. Among various kinds of welfares, employers mainly provide insurance premium, year-end party, medical examination, and education and training. D. We found that several variables, including total seniority in social works, certificate for senior social worker, characteristics of organization, foundation, educational level (above graduate school), have significant influence on salary of social workers. Finally, according to the result, we provide some suggestions to the government, organization, social workers and sequential researches as reference for sequential researches, policy-making and the fight for labor rights.
