Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 技術及職業教育研究所 === 105 === By offering rich and lively teaching materials not limited to the textbook, the study aims to motivate students to study physics and chemistry by incorporating YouTube video tutorials that helped strengthen their content knowledge, and by adopting "PhET simulation software” which employs a hands-on practice in addition to watching the videos. It is believed that this approach would increase students understanding of physics and chemistry charts, operations and logical reasoning to further achieve effective teaching and learning. Thus, the purpose of this study is to explore the effects of using the PhET simulation software combined with YouTube video-assisted teaching of science course in terms of students’ learning accomplishment as well as their perception toward using PhET simulation software in addition to YouTube video-assisted teaching. This study adopted a quasi-experimental design. Eighty-four eighth grade students from a junior high school in Taipei city were assigned into two groups. The experiment was conducted by targeting the unit, “Wave and Sound” of Physics and Chemistry. The experimental group learned through using PhET simulation software combined with YouTube video-assisted teaching, while the control group learned merely through YouTube video teaching materials. The results are summarized as follows: 1.Students who have received the PhET simulation software combined with YouTube video teaching materials showed significantly higher learning achievement than the students who received only the YouTube Video Teaching Assisted Instruction. 2.Most students who have received the PhET simulation software teaching with the YouTube videos showed postive feedback toward their learning experience and considered the combination helpful to their learning.
