When it comes to the story plot of male characters protect female characters, almost every male reader takes it as granted. It is due to the influence of their daily life and education, in which they have been taught that men should protect women. As a result, they think male characters should protect female characters. On the other hand, when respondents are asked to imagine that the gender of the princess changes into male, how would they think about the same arrangements of the prince. Homosexual respondents respond that they can accept a male prince behaves as the same arrangements of the princess. It shows less stereotype about how a man and a woman should behave. In contrast, heterosexual respondents think that male characters should behave like men, must take more responsibility of battle. Last but not least, temperament influences how readers identify and connect with the gender of characters. For the respondent embracing his femininity, because of the temperament, he could connect himself with female characters naturally, being aware of the gender inequality in ONE PIECE.
