The research investigated the development process, promotional strategies and development tendency of Taiwan Beep Baseball. The purpose of the study was to understand the establishment and development of Blind Baseball Sport in Taiwan; in addition, to discuss the promotional strategies and development tendency of the Blind Baseball Sport. Literarue analysis and interview method were conducted in the research. There were six interviewees. They were coaches, players and a volunteer in Taiwan Beep Baseball, and a admintrative staff who has deep understanding of Beep Baseball. They were interviewed through semi-structed in depth interview, and the data were analyzed.
The results were as follows:
1.The development process of Taiwan Beep Baseball: The establishment of The National Beep Baseball Association (NBBA) was voted in Beep Baseball Meeting, had beening held in Chicago in 1975. In 1996, Beep Baseball was introduced into Taiwan. The players were recruited and trained by Taiwan Foundation for the Blind. With the training and discussion with the coaches, the players got familiar with Beep Baseball more quickly.
2.Promotional strategies of Taiwan Beep Baseball: For sighted people, Taiwan Beep Baseball was promoted by word of mouth; for visual impairments, the core and challenges of Beep Baseball were shared; for the administrative staff, the power of government, public authorities and civil society should be brought out.
3.The development tendency of Taiwan Beep Baseball: The study suggests that Beep Baseball could be included into the physical education; physical fitness of visual impairments could be improved; the development tendency of Taiwan Beep Baseball would be growth with competitions and government’s supports.
