There were five main aims in this study. The first aim was to disclose the current well-being status of public health nurses. The second one was to explore the relationship between personal background variables, social support and wellbeing status of public health nurses. The third one was to reveal the powers of personal background variables, social support, and well-being status of public health nurses to predict the subjective feelings of well-being. The fourth one was to catch on the current condition about work pressure of public health nurses and the last one was to explore the relationship between personal background variables and work stress in public health nurses. A total of 128 public health nurses in Yunlin County were recruited in this study. In addition to self-made " well-being performance scale of public health nurses", the pressure scale of public health nurses was designed and also used as a research tool by referring to the work pressure scale designed by the Institute of Labor Hygiene and the actual situation of local health centers. The quantitative data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, one-way multivariate analysis of variance,correlation of Pearson's performance and simultaneous multiple regression. According to the results, conclusions and specific recommendations were finally obtained and used as references to provide assistance and promotion of mental health of public health nurses. The main findings included: (1) The subjective feelings of well-being in public health nurses belonged to the moderate degree. The feelings of well-being resulted from several related aspects,mainly including harmonious relationships, followed by independence, material satisfaction and career achievement. Subjective feelings of well-being revealed moderately positive correlation with the aspects mentioned above. (2) There were obvious differences in every part about wellbeing status among public health nurses with different marital and health status. (3) The public health nurses with more social support had better feelings about well-being. The sources and types of social support were apparently positively correlated with the well-being status. (4) The work stress of public health nurses had evident correlation with the demographic variables. (5) The work stress of public health nurses was distinctly correlated with health status (6) The demographic variables of public health nurses showed marked correlation with health status. According to the study results, specific conclusions and recommendations were established finally. They could be used as references to provide assistance and promotion of mental health of public health nurses, improve their work pressure and prom
