It is generally believed that preventive medicine can effectively help and improve the quality of sleep, and foot massage can effectively help physical and mental health. The aim of this study was to explore the impact of foot massage on sleep quality. The study recruited 32 adults aged 20 years and older as subjects to perform a foot massage experiment, 16 male and 16 female; 16 students and 16 elderly. The experiment is 15 days, includes three stages, no massage, do massage, and stop massage. The daily use of micro-sleep quality recorder was used to measure the objective sleep quality every day. On the day of the end of each stages, the sleep quality questionnaire was used to measure subjective sleep quality. The results of the study showed that : 1) the total sleep duration of male and female in the massage section were effectively increased, and the increment of male was greater than that of the female, 2) the stable sleep duration of male and female in the massage stage were effectively increased; and the stable sleep duration of students and elderly in the massage stage were effectively increased, and the increment of the student was greater than that of the elderly, 3) the unstable sleep duration of male and female in the massage stage were effectively decreased, and the decrement of female was greater than that of male, and 4) the sleep apnea index of male and female were decreased and the decrement of the female was greater than that of male.
