Description
Summary:碩士 === 元智大學 === 資訊工程學系 === 105 === Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) is one of the energy-efficient access networks. However, it is still the best candidate to improve energy consumption since EPON employs TDM. In this paper, a novel energy-efficient solution is proposed based on the SIEPON standard that improves energy consumption of the EPON. Tx manager module is added to the optical line terminal (OLT) with the ability of estimating the upcoming high-priority traffic in each cycle with the help of the genetic expression programming (GEP) model. Moreover, a new dynamic bandwidth allocation, namely GEP_DBA, is implemented to allocate bandwidth more efficiently. GEP model is built based on the current and previous REPORT messages. Simulation results show that the proposed mechanism improves the ONU’s power consumption up to 49% while it guarantees QoS metrics such as the high-priority traffic delay and jitter.
