Consequently, geological hazards are prone to occur due to earthquake and heavy rainfall. For examples, the Tsao-Ling landslide induced by Chi-Chi earthquake led to a rock mass of about 120-million cubic meters slid down the Taso-Ling dip slope and 32 people death in 1999; additionally, 21 people lost their lives during the heavy rainfall brought by Typhoon Megi and triggered rockfalls, debris flows and landslides along the Suhua Highway in 2010. As a result, the research on the landslide resulting from earthquake and rainfall has always been an important issue in Taiwan. In order to explore the influences of friction properties of joint and inclination of weak plane on the stability of rock slope, a series of physical model experiments based on anti-dip rock slopes, proposed by Goodland and Bray (1976) were conducted and the results were compared with the analysis according to the limit equilibrium method as well. The friction properties include the basic friction angle ϕ_b of the weak plane on the bottom of the model and the friction angle ϕ_d of the joint set which were decided by a series of shear tests of artificial rock joint. During the physical model experiments, the inclination of weak plane ψ_p was controlled by a self-development tilt table. In addition, the movements of the whole physical model and the composed artificial rock block were captured by a high-speed camera, and the failure patterns of block including sliding and toppling were distinguished by the analysis of captured images.
