The first part of this study is to develop tubular lighting device using urchin-like ZnO microspheres as emitter and phosphor coated T5 tube as anode. As a result, when the electrical field is 4.76 V/μm, the high luminance of 8659 cd/m2, good uniformity of 98.07 % and high efficiency of 92.8 lm/W can be achieved. The second part of this study is the use of CNTs to be the emitter for triode tube field emission device. Phosphor-coated T8 tube was used as anode for the field emission lighting tube. The luminance, uniformity of brightness, current density, and luminance efficiency were analyzed.
