Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 成人及繼續教育系高齡者教育研究所 === 106 === The purpose of this study is to discuss the relationship between social support and well-being of the elders. Through questionnaires and analysis of related statistics, it aims for a complete understanding of the said relationship, and on the basis of which proposes workable suggestions for the authorities. To obtain the purpose, this study adopts a survey method through the use of questionnaire entitled, “Questionnaire on Social Support and Well-being of the Elder”. The questionnaire investigates the elders who are above 55 years old and who are taking the courses which were opened by elder education institutions as samples. A total of 610 ,the valid total samples are 575 and the effective recovery is 94.43 percent.
After careful survey, conclusions are drawn as follows:
1.Elders show general degrees of social participation. Among those, they are highest with message support, and least with tool support.
2.Impact on elders’ social participation of personal background variables: Include economic situation, housing situation, health, and marital status.
3.Elders show general degrees of well-being. Among those, they are most satisfied with life satisfaction, and least with Social participation.
4.Impact on elders’ well-being of personal background variables includes economic situation and health.
5.The elders’ social support has a significant correlation with well-being.
6.The elders’ social support could predict well-being.
Suggestions from the results:
For senior learners
1.Elder learners should meet with their families or communities to activate their social support network.
2.Elder learners should actively participate in learning activities to promote well-being.
3.Elder learners should understand their self-support needs and actively seek social support.
For Elder education organization
1.Provide Elder learners learning support services.
2.Actively use various channels to promote learning messages.
3.Join health care related courses.
