The buildings which have constructed more than 15 years are experiencing the ravages of time,deteriorating the structure or its appearance. On the one hand,because of the various economic and environmental changes,in the field of construction engineering in Taiwan has also experienced dramatic transformation problems. Taking the traditional industries like construction industry and interior decoration industry as examples,half of the proportion of new houses has shrunk sharply,which has greatly reduced the living space of the industry.Therefore, under the pressure of changes in the environment,the renovation or renovation of old houses has become the focus of the current construction industry.In this study, the lightweight concrete such as lightweight aggregate concrete,Styrofoam concrete and air-entrained concrete is proposed as a reference for material application.In this research, we study on the mixing compact proportions and mechanical properties of these three lightweight concretes and we also expect the lightweight concrete can be used to replace the normal weight concrete as structural concrete which can kindly facilitate the application of lightweight concrete in the reconstruction of old buildings. The research results show that the lightweight aggregate concrete in lightweight concrete can reach the design value whether the properties of fresh concrete or compressive strength. The design strength of lightweight concrete in this study is 210kgf/cm2.The lightweight aggregate concrete which compressive strength(204.0kg/cm2~269.7kg/cm2) can reach the design strength in the age of 14 days,however the Styrofoam concrete (compressive strength in age 28 days:70.0kg/cm2~94.3kg/cm2) and air-entrained concrete (compressive strength in age 28 days:93.0kg/cm2~118.7kg/cm2) are unable to reach the design strength in the age of 28 days.In the view of properties of fresh concrete,both lightweight aggregate concrete and air-entrained concrete can achieve designed slump,but the Styrofoam concrete doesn’t. In the unit weight test,three of the lightweight concrete can match the regulation of unit weight in lightweight concrete.From the above test results show, it shows that lightweight aggregate concrete can be used as structural concrete.In this study we also discussed the use of lightweight aggregate in the actual case of renovation of old buildings - Yuanlin Karuizawa.
