After the typhoon’s invasion, sedimentation in the Nanhua Reservoir resulted in serious impact on the operation and supply of the reservoir. In order to meet the future demand for water resources and extend the life of the reservoir, the government plans to develop a second reservoir in the upper reaches of Nanhua Reservoir. In this water resources development project, species affected by human development will migrate to facilitate survival. In order to protect the ecological species under the scope of the project, similar habitats in the vicinity of the development area are sought, and providing relevant units with the implementation of species-related protection measures is an important issue. The purpose of this study is to explore the types of habitat affected by development and to identify nearby and similar environments as alternative habitats through various environmental orientations. Adjacent alternative habitats not only facilitate the migration of species, but also serve as a reference for the protection of species in relevant government units, and avoid the reduction and extinction of species caused by human intervention under project development. This study takes Nanhua Reservoir catchment area as the research scope. six environmental factors are considered such as elevation, slope, aspect, distance from river systems, distance from road and NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) in the natural environment data, as well as distribution information of indicator species Herpestes urva formosanus, Formosan macaque and Muntiacus reevesi micrurus. The maximum entropy method was used to establish the habitat distribution model and the distribution map of the species, and the AUC was used for verification. It was confirmed that the habitat environment in the species distribution prediction map was conducive to species survival. The research results show that the AUC verification value of the three indicator species distribution models are all greater than 0.7, indicating that the model performs well and the prediction results have credibility. The location of the alternative habitat is analyzed based on the potential distribution of the species and the actual geographical distribution: the alternative habitat of the Herpestes urva formosanus is in Guitoukeng River, Gaoshuikeng River, Dazhukeng River, Daniulinkeng River, Caolinkeng River, Dashuikeng River, Houcengkeng River and Jiaxianlin Road; the alternative habitat of the Formosan macaque is in Guitoukeng River, Gaoshuikeng River, Jiucaokeng River, Dazhukeng River, Houcengkeng River and Jiaxianlin Road; the alternative habitat for the Muntiacus reevesi micrurus is in Gaoshuikeng River, Jiucaokeng River, Dazhukeng River, Daniulinkeng River, Houcengkeng River and Jiaxianlin Road.
