碩士 === 長榮大學 === 美術學系碩士班 === 106 === Female images are often described with adjectives such as soft, caring, kindly, delicate, tender, humble, shy or fertile, while female images in artwork are often rendered through the supple form of plants, flowers, fruit, or seeds. Fertility appears to be the origin of creativity for many artists, particularly female artists, who explore their primal instinct from personal experience before they set out to connect with the outside world. This study explores myths, legends, reproduction worship, ecofeminism, and artwork in the hopes of connecting female images and the maternity of the Earth. The clay works centers on three topics related to earth: "origin", "incarnation", and "inclusion". There are 20 clay works in this collection, including 6 pieces of "origin" series, 8 pieces of "incarnation" series, and 6 pieces of "inclusion" series. This essay illustrates the motivations and meanings of the 20 clay works, and analyzes the structures and techniques used by the artist. The artist intends to show people the beauty of mankind and mother natures through the series of clay works. Clay comes from the earth, and the series of clay works present the image of the withered earth. After viewing the works, the viewers may reflect their relationships with the mother natures and environment.
