碩士 === 長榮大學 === 醫學研究所 === 106 === Aim Elders in the entire world were enjoying the convenience brought by good technology and hospitality but they might lack certain things from spiritual and psychological sectors. This research designed to determine how personalities and meanings of life of retirees works to affect their life qualities, and how those factors could predict life qualities of humankind. Methods The self-designed questionnaire set personality scales, meaning of life scales and life qualities scales to form a 40 question items with high reliability and validity after completing factor analysis and Cronbach Alpha test. There were total 286 questionnaires from Taiwan and Malaysia are collected. Results The results shows that personalities: neuroticism, personality hardiness and meaning of life: liberty and achievement are the factors that predicted humankind life qualities. Other background factors like friendships and sport habits help the old folks to live better too. The results of this research can give a reference for the hospitalities to improve the life qualities of the elders.
