Xiao Jing, which is the epitome of filial piety, was highly promoted and respected by the authority and emperors from Western Han Dynasty. Even the first appearance of Xiao Jing was long time ago, and the perspectives of politics, culture and family differ from nowadays, the content and profound meanings inside this masterpiece won’t be faded as time flies. As a result, the thesis analyzes and induces the thinking of filial piety and the spirit of the classic, hoping to apply to the modern daily life to improve the problems of family education, and make the functions of family outstand, and contribute to the stable development of society. The thesis can be divided into five chapters. The first chapter is introduction, which introduces research motivation, research purpose and research method. The second chapter sorts the authors, background of the book appearance, versions, and points of view of Xiao Jing in contextual organization to realize the importance of this classic. The third chapter describes the depth and implementation of modern family education to clarify the definition, depth, importance, development, and the facing difficulties of family education. The forth chapter analyzes and elaborates the inspiration Xiao Jing has on modern family education. The results includes passive filial piety- self cultivation, active filial piety- service to ( grand) parents, and the authority should practice what he preaches to advocate policies relating to filial piety. Finally, the fifth chapter concludes and positively consider filial piety in Xiao Jing to be the core value of personal life and inspiration and correction of human and culture, which serves as the positive function of stabilizing the development of society.
