To know the content of a specific design field, the most efficient method is knowing the basic structure of design process and the important design implementation items. Covering the processes and items that are included in both domestic and global hotel interior design categories, the primary objectives of this study are:
1. Understand the content of hotel interior design category through literature analysis.
2. Demonstrate the layered structure and item of hotel interior design.
3. Gather statistics and conclude fundamental hotel interior design items.
4. Analyze the rating difference of the importance of hotel interior design items from firms withdifferent attributesin the field.
Two research methods were implemented for this research in literature review:content analysis and expert interview method. Both methodssummarize complete hotel interior designing-related information and use the result to draft the layered structure and item of hotel interior design as the content of questionnaire of the expert questionnaire in next phase of the research, including 1 hotel design categories, 6 hotel design sub-projects, 40 hotel design items. The statistic results of expert questionnaire showed the level of deletion and essential of design items by conducting Fuzzy Delphi method. On the other hand, using the results of expert questionnaire, survey was specifically designed to give to professionals in interior design field. The primary objective is to investigate the analysis of the level of importance of each design item and thedifference of the importance of hotel interior design items from professionals infirms andacademic circles with different backgroundsin the field. Descriptive statistics, T-tests, and analysis of variancewere used to retrieve statistic results of survey, respectively. SPSS18.0 and Excel were used to analyze the quantitative survey data above.
