To exchange data between different cloud platforms, devices must use the API which is provided by the cloud platforms. Because Cloud platforms is not necessarily providing the API used to exchange data between different cloud platforms, two devices in different cloud platforms cannot exchange data in the same internet. The above situation is called vertical silos. In order to solve the vertical silos in the Internet of Things, W3C proposes a WoT architecture. Through the WoT architecture which is open and unified architecture, all devises can directly exchange data in the Internet of Things to reduce the Interoperability. This paper takes the common air-conditioning system of smart homes as an example. Through the W3C WoT architecture, it plans how Gateway will proxy temperature sensors, cool air to access temperature data to Gateway and users to operate air-conditioning through browser.
