The rapid urbanization results in fragmentation of green spaces throughout urban areas. Besides, after industrial revolution, people used lots of fossil fuel and result in the global warming and urban heat island effect. This study used Landsat 5 TM and Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS satellite images to explore the influence of environmental factors on the land surface temperature in summer and winter. We selected three periods and compared the analysis results with each other. We obtained the environmental factors from the image of each period. First, we divided the land cover into four categories: water, building, bare soil and vegetation. According to the emissivity of these land cover types, we retrieved land surface temperature in each period in summer and winter seasons Second, we used spatial regression model to explore the spatial relationships between various factors and land surface temperature. The results showed whether in summer or winter, the land surface temperature had a positive correlation with building areas and average area solar radiation. We also demonstrated land surface temperature had a negative correlation with NDVI and NDWI, which means vegetation and water areas can effectively reduce land surface temperature. Based on the results above, urban heat islands can be reduced by promoting the most optimal allocation of the green space and increasing the green coverage of plants, building green roofs, installing roofs with high reflective materials, and using permeable pavements with the most effective ways. We obtained the environmental factors from the image of each period. First, we divided the land cover into four categories: water, building, bare soil and vegetation. According to the emissivity of these land cover types, we retrieved land surface temperature in each period in summer and winter seasons
Second, we used spatial regression model to explore the spatial relationships between various factors and land surface temperature. The results showed whether in summer or winter, the land surface temperature had a positive correlation with building areas and average area solar radiation. We also demonstrated land surface temperature had a negative correlation with NDVI and NDWI, which means vegetation and water areas can effectively reduce land surface temperature.
