However, the dark side of the communication efficiency must be taken seriously with caution. Fake news, for one, is crawling into daily information exchange flow with a pace and scale never seen before. The adverse consequences of fake news can cost the stability of democratic political system as well as society at large. Factors preventing the flow of fake news are an important issue worthy of investigation. Mobile instant messaging app LINE has the number of registered users exceeding 17 millions in Taiwan. The heavily adopted app warrants as a research target for fake news preventing study. Based on the theory of planning behavior (TPB), the study intends to understand the relationships of perceived adverse consequences, subjective norm, perceived behavior control, trust, verifying intention and forwarding behavior. An online survey research method was employed. Data were collected by snowballing sampling. Friends, relatives, and fellow college students were first contacted as initial sampling pool. They were asked to participate in the research if consent and then forward the online questionnaire to their acquaintances who may be interested in participating. A convenient sample of 349 respondents was collected. PLS-SEM (partial least square-structuring equation modeling) was employed as the statistical analysis technique. The results are as follows: 1.Perceived adverse consequence is positively related to subjective norm. 2.Perceived adverse consequence is positively related to perceived behavior control. 3.Subjective norm is positively related to verifying intention. 4.Perceived behavior control is positively related to verifying intention. 5.Trust is significantly related to verifying intention only in the group of low frequent forwarding population. 6.Verifying intention is positively related to actual forwarding behavior. Perceived adverse consequence, as this study indentified, is the antecedent of prevention from fake news forwarding. It is advised by this study to strengthen the media literacy education for general public to curtail the plaque-like phenomenon of fake news forwarding. CHEN,CAI 陳才 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 68 zh-TW
