Summary:碩士 === 佛光大學 === 佛教學系 === 106 === Mindfulness–Based Stress Reduction (hereafter referred to as MBSR) was created by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 1979 as a therapy which aims to help people cope with physical and mental illness. MBSR is now widely applied in medical, counselling, corporate and other fields. Although MBSR has often been investigated by Western academy, it is based on teachings of Eastern philosophies, particularly Buddhism. Mindfulness is the awareness arisen from the act of intentionally focusing on the present moment with a non-judgemental attitude. The purpose of the present study is to explore the impact of MBSR training on different life relationship dimension. Research data was collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews conducted with 8 participants of an 8-week MBSR program. The data collected was then analysed and discussed through qualitative research method. Data provided by participants has demonstrated MBSR training's significant impact on three main dimensions of life relationship, namely the intra-relationship, the inter-relationship and the relationship between nature and environment. 1. Intra-relationship: The level of self-awareness towards body and mind, as well as the level of self-acceptance and self-loving have increased; non-judging attitude resulting in open-mindedness, mindfulness has been applied into daily life in general. 2. Inter-relationship: Relations within the family have been strengthened by attitudes of patience and non-judgment, communication within the family became more clear and honest; participants perceive themselves as more sincere, honest and willing to play the role of a listener among friends; friendly interactions with strangers has also increased. 3. Relationship between nature and environment: Deeper connection with non-human beings (animals and plants); self-awareness of the body and the ability to focus on the breathing help participants to adapt to new environments more easily, general relation with the living environment is improved due to non-judgemental attitudes and acceptance. In conclusion, MBSR training has positive impact on three main dimensions of life relationship.
