Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 心理學系 === 106 === Internship is an important stage for college students. They have to face the transition from school to vocation for the first time. In order to help them cope stress more appropriately, so this research focuses on training. The researcher used the new orientation program called "Realistic Orientation Program for Entry Stress"( ROPES). ROPES which is derived from the phrase "Learn the ropes" (learning a series of things) was created by Wanous in 1992, and the meaning is that the newcomers need to learn a series of things in a short time (Wanous & Reicher, 2000). The main purpose of ROPES is to help newcomers cope the stress effectively in the new environment, and reduce negative behavior, such as departure or absenteeism. ROPES program contains both elements : (1) Providing realistic stress situation.(2) Training the methods to cope stress.(Wanous & Reicher, 2000; Fan, Buckley & Litchfield, 2012) The results from Fan (2008) also verified ROPES training program can help newcomers adapt new environment better. Therefore, this research's sample is derive from the interns of the digital media field. The procedure for this program is based on ROPES. We designed the lesson plan through the results of needs assessment and social cognitive theory(SCT), then we conducted training in the class and evaluated the program's perform finally. We used specific self-efficacy and initial expectation as two variables, and the method is pre-post test. The results is that the promotion of specific self-efficacy and calibration of initial expectation have different change, but significance is only marginal. Even though, the involvement of this program still have significant different on promoting career exploration, and reducing their doubts about their careers. This results indicate that involvement in training program ROPES is meaningful. The contribution of this research is that we made the native detecting of the ROPES program, developed the application of ROPES on dual roles, and ROPES training can served as a supplement to the developmental assessment center method.
