With the gradual growth of the domestic economy and national income annually, people not only pay more attention to insurance but also gradually increase the demand for diversity. Thus, it stimulates the scale expansion of the domestic life insurance market. Since the adoption of the Financial Holding Company Act in 2001 and Taiwan’s accession to the WTO in 2002, the government has carried out a series of insurance law regulatory reforms and restrictions for financial and insurance institutions. Taiwan Life Insurance market flourishes when the financial holding companies started to establish entities successively. Through cross-industry marketing, the sales channels for insurance business are no longer limited to the life insurance companies. The result made the Taiwan insurance industry has to not only face the intense pressure from the rival foreign financial groups but also adapt to the changes in the domestic financial environment.
In recent years, domestic life insurance companies have increased the market share of insurance business through mergers and acquisitions, and have actively developed new financial and insurance commodity businesses. The scale of operations within the industry has already shifted. The big companies became whales; whales became conglomerates. Thus, this study chose case companies in the domestic life insurance industry as the research object to understand the development status and future advancement trends of the life insurance industry. The study analyzed the operating environment and status of the domestic life insurance industry through the fundamental analysis of strategic planning under the framework of industry analysis and competitive strategy. It also synthesized the results of the overall environmental analysis and examined the external threats and opportunities which the life insurance companies face. The study analyzed the internal advantages and disadvantages of the case companies, and the comparison with their competitors. It combined the competitiveness of the case companies, planned and formulated the favorable competitive strategies for the case companies.
The case study company is a local life insurance company and is not a subsidiary of the company. It has substantially reformed the financial insurance law in the government, committed to expanding the scale of the financial insurance market, and continued to open various restrictions on financial insurance products, in order to expand the life insurance industry’s operating niche and related Analyze the strategic recommendations of the plan, and based on the research purpose, provide a case company as a reference for the undeveloped strategy, and also provide reference for the life insurance industry-related strategies.
