Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔英科技大學 === 護理系碩士班 === 106 === Aim : Maternal role development, including confidence and satisfaction as a mother, is important in the transition to motherhood during the postnatal period. However, the impact of maternal feelings on the maternal-infant bonding remains unclear. This paper is a report of a correlational study of the relations of social support, maternal confidence and maternal - infant bonding among postpartum women. Methods : This study adopted purposive sampling to recruit 211 postpartum women from two hospitals in northern and southern Taiwan. Postpar- tum women completed self-report measures of mothers’ demographic characteristics, Social Support Scale, Maternal Confidence Scale and Postpartum Bonding Questionnaire (PBQ). Results : The findings indicated that women reporting middle/upper social support and maternal confidence, reporting lower levels of PBQ. Like- wise, social support(r= -.45,p<.01)and maternal confidence(r= -.60,p<.01)were significantly negative correlated with maternal - infant bonding. Maternal-infant bonding was significantly predicted by maternal psycho-emotional state, educational level, marital satisfaction, parity, maternal confidence and social support. After controlling for demographic characteristics, any two of social support, maternal confidence and maternal-infant bonding were significantly positively correlated. Furthermore, maternal confidence (β=-0.84, p<.000) as a partial mediator between social support and maternal- infant bonding. Conclusion : The results emphasize the impact of maternal psycho-emotional state, educational level, marital satisfaction, parity, maternal confide- nce and social support regarding maternal-infant bonding. Therefore, maternal- infant bonding based interventions should be tailored to mo- thers’ specific maternal characteristics. Likewise, nurses should not only consider mothers’ infant care skills, but also mothers’ emotion, marital satisfaction, perceived social support and maternal confidence in early postpartum. Implication for practice: To be concluded, the current study suggests that the impact of maternal psycho-emotional state, educational level, marital satisfaction, parity, maternal confidence and social support regarding maternal-infant bonding. Therefore, it is suggested that clinical education and practical training in a post- natal nursing intervention, helps women become more comfortable with impending motherhood are urgently need, and may provide information applicable to the design of therapeutic or preventive approaches to parents with bonding disorders.
