In addition, this study attempts to examine the mediating effects of Meaning of life on the relationship between of Self-compassion and Self-efficacy. The participants were 205 students in the Master’s program of counseling or clinical psychology. Questionnaires include the Self-compassion Scale, Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ), general self-efficacy Scale (GSE scale). The main findings were (1) the Self-compassion of counseling and clinical psychology graduate students are average, Meaning of life and Self-efficacy are above the average. (2) Self-compassion correlated positively with self-efficacy (3) Self-compassion had positive correlations with Meaning of life (4) Meaning of life had positive correlations with self-efficacy. (5) Self-compassion and Meaning of life were significantly predicted Self-efficacy (6) Meaning of life mediated the effect on the relationship between of Self-compassion and self-efficacy. Another finding includes that male were higher scores in Self-compassion and self-efficacy than female; graduate trainees were higher in the ‘Presence of Meaning’ subscale than other graduate students;‘Presence of Meaning’subscale had positive correlations with self-compassion and self-efficacy, while ‘Search for Meaning’ subscale had not correlation with self-compassion and self-efficacy. Based on the finding in this study: (1) Self-compassion, Meaning of life and Self-efficacy will be influenced by the ability of gender roles and self-awareness. (2) The cognition of the meaning of life would affected by the current life experience. (3) Self-compassion and Self-efficacy are individual internal cognitive category, they would affect the cognitive of the meaning of life, but would not affect the motivation of search for meaning. Suggestions for future research to increase the personal qualities, experience or trauma or meta-cognitive variable, depth discussions which the internal mechanism.
