Whether the direct medical fees or indirect social cares, mental disorders would be costly in near future. Deinstitutionalization made patients back to the family and communities, and family members have become the main caregivers for mental disorders patients; unfortunately, relevant policies were not giving complete supports to help patients and caregivers, making them lose the way to search mentally, economically, and socially underpinnings. The researcher has volunteered in Heng-Shan Volunteering Team to serve to mental disorders patients and caregivers, recognizing that the patients could rejoin other people and make living by themselves if self-esteem and affection have been given. The study hence is to explore how the care of mental disorders patients would be operated after deinstitutionalization by the case study of Heng-Shan Volunteering Team. By using in-depth interview, it has been found that Heng-Shan Volunteering Team was different from the medical institutions in mental disorders patient cares; the team was helping them by humanity and dignity with respectable communication ways. Furthermore, Heng-Shan Volunteering Team emphasized civil participation and civil values, and it could become effective references for the public sectors to make relevant policies and laws.
