Study of the Residents of Mailiao Township about the Feedback Project of the No. 6 Naphtha Cracker Project of the Formosa Plastics Group in Taiwan

碩士 === 康寧大學 === 企業管理研究所 === 106 === Many developing countries have invested in the production of the petrochemical industry in order to promote economic development. The petrochemical industry has always been one of important traditional industries in Taiwan. In the past 50 years, our government has attached great attention to the development of the petrochemical industry. It could be seen that the government is determined to actively develop the petrochemical industry among the magor national design drawings. In 1986, the No.6 Naphtha Cracker was approved by central government and was building in Mailiao Township in Yunlin in 1994. After the officially operation of No.6 Naphtha Cracker, it brought a lot of job opportunity and promoted local economic growth, but it came to the severe pollution of environment and public health issues. Therefore the No.6 Naphtha Cracker proposed some feedback policies to local residents to appease anger. The purpose of this research is to understand the importance and the acceptance of the feedback policies of Mailiao residents. This research conducted a questionnaire to investigate people who is living or working in Mailiao Township. Through the empirical analysis, the result shows (1) education, with or without child, and age are significant in importance of the feedback policies. (2) gender, with or without child, age are significant in acceptance of th feedback policies. Besides, the study also finds that four positive significantly between (1) the importance of medical health subsidy and acceptance, (2) the importance of agricultural and fishery issues and acceptance, (3) the importance of community care and acceptance, (4) the importance of hardware constrution and students activities pushing and acceptance. Finally, the result shows that the levels of importance would influence the acceptance of the feedback policies.
