I investigated the influence of Japanese animation on Japanese learning as university graduation thesis, and the result of questionnaire shows that more than 90% of respondents agreed that watching Japanese animation is useful for listening. Thus, this research will focus on the listening learning, and try to provide listening learning strategies that Japanese language learners can use while watching Japanese animation. “Listening learning strategy using Japanese animation as learning materials” items are collected from the following two parts. (1) Extract and modify listening learning strategy items from previous researches. (2) Conduct an 1-on-1 interview survey with good Japanese language learners in Taiwan who love Japanese animation, and find out that they are usually how to use Japanese animation to practice their listening comprehension ability and collect their strategies. After that, the inappropriate items are removed through statistical software SPSS, and then the unspecified items are also deleted by analysis. As a result, totally 49 listening learning strategies were collected. In addition, the result of the interview shows that there is a kind of Japanese animation would be useful for listening, and examples of that kind of Japanese animation are also found. Lastly, with reference to the learning strategy classification of Wu (2012), a new 7-classification was developed, including “Metacognition Strategy”, “Cognition-basic Strategy”, “Anime-viewing Strategy”, “Subtitle using Strategy”, “Inferencing Strategy”, “Continuation Strategy”, “Collaboration Strategy”. According to this 7-classification, 49 listening learning strategies were classified. Therefore, when Japanese language learners choose Japanese animation to practice their listening comprehension ability, those strategies would be helpful for them.
