Quality of making friends also plays a very important role for children. Well-being could affect students’ states of emotions, their learning performances, as well as their relationships with their friends, their classmates, and their family members. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the differences and relationships among parenting styles, quality of making friends, and well-being of junior high school students in terms of their backgrounds. In this study, survey research was adopted as its research approach, the questionnaires were used as its data collection instruments, and its selected sample of individuals consisted of 583 7th-to-9th-grade students from Chutang Junior High School in Changhua. The Parents’ Rearing Attitudes Scale (PRAS), Quality of Making Friends Questionnaire (QMFQ), and Well-being Questionnaire (WBQ) were administered to assess parenting style, quality of making friends, and well-being of all respondents. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, and stepwise regression analysis. The main findings are listed below: 1. The level of well-being of all the respondents is moderate-high. They have the significantly higher scores in the positive-feeling aspect than ones in the other aspects of well-being. 2. It is statically significant that girl respondents have higher scores than boy respondents in the personal-relationship aspect of well-being; however, in terms of the sexes, there is a lack of statistical significance in the other aspects of well-being. 3. The level of well-being of all the respondents whose birth order differs is not statistically significant. 4. There is a significant relationship between all the respondents’ scores on quality of making friends and ones of well-being. 5. It is statically significant that the respondents with authoritative parents have higher level of well-being and the ones with neglectful parents have lower level of well-being. 6. The help-and-care aspect of quality of making friend strongly predicts the well-being of the all respondents. The findings, especially about the aspect of the relationships between the quality of making friends and well-being in this study, are mainly for parents and junior high school teachers. According to the study, here are two suggestions: 1. The authoritative parenting style is encouraged for junior high school students’ well-being. 2.
