The aims of the research is to probe and discuss how pictures books affect students in environmental education after the nine teaching periods in six weeks. The teaching activities of the research are based on the following picture books, Mottainai Grandma, Good Thing, and Petit ours sur la banquise . Data collection includes students’ learning sheets, the feedback of teachers’ observation, students’ interview, note taking and teaching reflections. It comes to several conclusions as the following: 1.The Implementation and teaching of picture books in environmental education Because of the interesting plots and rich pictures, picture books can easily motivate students’ reading interests. Different kinds of teaching methods can get students’ learning interests and increase their learning attention. Moreover, collecting related lesson plans and curriculum datas in multiple ways, communicating with parents, grouping students to cooperate can increase students learning achievements. Researcher get not only the professional improvement but also growth in education through the action research. 2.The influences to students with the environmental education project Students can get the concept into action, and protect the environment positively. Students can also promote the environmental protection concept and influence others in a good way. Students can understand the coexistence and dependence of human beings and the environment. 3.The dilemma and solution through the action research There is a shortage of the “picture books”, not all the students have needed “picture books”. To solve the problem, the researcher has to find other multi-ways to teach. Teacher should adjust teaching methods to be suitable for the right levels of students.
