The goal is to grasp an understanding of the characteristics and important items concerning public library buildings and space allocation as well as the content and trend of public library space remodeling for the recent years. POE investigation is used to assess the effects of building planning. As most studies on the effectiveness of library space remodeling tackle the issue from the point of view of readers and librarians, few studies take approach the issue from the perspective of architects who are involved in the design and planning. In order to achieve effectiveness of POE feedback, the study uses Taipei Public Library as case study and adopts interview methods to apprehend the ideas and concepts of librarians and architects who have participated in the space remodeling of Taipei Public Library. The analysis results will be used as reference for the planning of future public library space remodeling. Analysis of interview data and general literature works show space allocation, materials, lighting and furnishing equipment to be the most valued aspects for librarians regarding space remodeling. As users of the library itself, their opinions space remodeling suggestions serve certain reference value. However, librarians have also admitted to their lack of understanding regarding space remodeling construction and hope to enhance their level of participation by providing user experience and supplementary measures. For architects participating in library space design, they have stated that their designs revolve around the characteristics of the library and the main points emphasized by space remodeling plans. Although feedback from librarians and contents within the building planning proposal were taken into consideration, architects have discovered that public procurement measures have affected the executing quality of space remodeling engineering. POE is used by this study to help architects understand the effectiveness of space remodeling as well as current usage situations, including the limitations to space remodeling planning due to library requirements and how the procurement choices are based on properties of the space remodeling project. Authority and duties are regulated based on the needs of the space remodeling library. Hence, the following suggestions are provided to enhance future execution of public library space remodeling projects: A.Experience sharing and guidance measures should be adopted to prevent the same mistakes being made. B.Enforce recording of the library’s usage. C.Contents of the building planning proposal should include basic information on the library’s spacing and emphasis should be made on the needs of the librarians. D.Adjustment of procurement systems to improve construction quality. E.Using of the agreement to clarify the responsibilities of each party. Lin, Chiao-Min 林巧敏 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 169 zh-TW
