Therefore, the special phenomenon of the manual excavation was carried out in the retaining pile and manual well in central Taiwan. This study analyzes the benefits in pneumatic drilling by mechanical excavation methods and traditional manual excavation, the analysis was used the cost, safety, construction speed, and noise in manual retaining piles, manual pumping well and pneumatic drilling method. The comparison was discussed and illustrated with the process of the manual excavation in retaining pile and manual well. And analyzed the reference data with the construction efficiency in the duration and cost in retaining piles and CTSP sewer project manual wells to clarify the reasons of accident. The pneumatic drilling method uses the rotation and vibration to down excavate which like the professional rotary drill hammer, and uses the air compressor to blowout the gravel in the pit. Take the case of the water quality purification in Taichung Green River Project for example, the construction sequence, equipment and the amount of construction day in pneumatic drilling method were recorded and analyzed. And also take the Sanfu section in Nantun District, Taichung for example, the assemble time of equipment, drilling duration, decibel of noise and required space were also recorded and analyzed.
