According to the version of AISC (2005) and AISC (2011) which published by American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) to be the object of this study. All theory of column base plates in these versions would be detailed, include the dimension (N and B) and the thickness (tp) of the column base plate. Because the value of  is different, the designed substrate is different, and by the calculation of the example we could know well about the meaning of the specification. On the other hand, when we discuss the effect of column base plate which caused to the moment, we also introduce the forces acting on the behavior and design methods under different eccentricities, and when the eccentric is too large, the base plates will have turned over, so we need to use the anchor bolts in order to make the structure stable. The application and design of anchor bolts must also be explored. The design steps of column base plates to do a complete discussion by the calculation of the example.
