The designed drive system and BLDCM are applied to a woodworking carving machine as the spindle motor. The proposed system uses the six-step square wave modulation to regulate the stator currents. The rotor position and shaft speed are detected by Hall sensors which are embedded in the motor. A speed PI controller is used to maintain the motor speed at the desired. The designed hardware system includes the main control board, power module board, and signal processing board. Isolations for digital and analog signals, high-side and low-side voltages are added to prevent form the noise interference. The drive system is designed to be operated at the speed range of 6000 rpm to 20000 rpm to fit the requirements for different materials process.
