Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 物理學系 === 106 === The FORMOSAT-2 was launched successfully on May 21 2004, the Imager Sprites and Upper Atmospheric Lightning (ISUAL) was the only one scientific payload, and also the first mission devoted to the study of the transient luminous events. In recent years, a sufficient event was recorded for a further study, so that these events were used to analyze the relationships between tropical cyclones and lightning. More than five thousand blue jets from 2004 to 2016 were selected in this study, and 700 km and a time window with ±3 hour conditions was set and the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) global cloud maps were employed , to find the relationships between the blue jets and the features of the tropical cyclones, including their types, outer-rainband, dangerous-semicircle. Also, the association between BJ and lightning is also an important issue in this study, World Wide Lightning Location Network (WWLLN) data were used and the cumulative histograms were analyzed to explore the outer-rainband, dangerous semicircle and their connection between blue jets and tropical cyclones. The results are summarized as following: (1) The BJs are strongly associated with the cloud-to-ground lightning and the rainband in the tropical cyclone. (2) The percentage of BJs occurring in tropical cyclones is around 6.3%. (3) The percentage of BJs located inside the dangerous-semicircle of the tropical cyclone is about 50%.
