碩士 === 國立暨南國際大學 === 諮商心理與人力資源發展學系輔導與諮商研究所 === 106 === The research aims to explore the parenthood experience of single fathers who divorced from new immigrant families and what challenges they have to face. Narrative inquiry is used and selected in this research, and the researcher uses the analysis model proposed by Clandinin and Connelly. The results are as follows: The role of the single father in new immigrant family influenced by the father's of his family that provided the economy but lack of strategies on expressing their feelings, so it becomes hard to interact with children and deal with their emotions. Single father have to adjust the proportion of work to family and sometimes ask for assistance from other members from his family. The economic status of single father doesn’t have much change. Because of the limit of his wife, they regard their children's education as the most important project in their parenthood and less change in the communication with teachers. The activities for single father and their children in the daily life are cooking and watching television. The most important requirement for their children is to grow up safely and don’t have any deviation. The ex-wife will remain in the same county or nearby area to interact and connect with their children. The motherhood plays a complementary role in single fathers’ families and complements emotional care of children, providing additional material and health knowledge.
