| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 國文學系 === 106 === Jimmy, whose 20th anniversary of picture book making was celebrated in this year, becomes one of the representatives of picture book maker via his amazing imagination and unlimited creativity, and leads the trend of fashion of picture book making and reading. Researchers mainly focus on picture aesthetics, narrative skills, topic research and business model for Cultural and Creative Industry in Jimmy's works. In this thesis, it researches this work with 3 pains, which are pain encountering, pain acceptance, and pain termination, on how 42 children in Jimmy's “Paradise Lost” strive to understand why they lost their happiness and why they regained their happiness, showing the excellence of this book as a Bible for pains healing.
In this first chapter, it mentions research motivation, scope, methodology and references. In the second chapter, it discusses this background of Jimmy, his history of making picture books, his creativity and his types of picture book making.
The third chapter to the fifth chapter are the most important parts of this thesis. In the third chapter, it incorporates a main topic, pain encountering, and 3 subtopics, melancholy, lost, and behavior deviation. In the fourth chapter, it includes a main topic, pain acceptance, and 3 subtopics, how they looked for the healing for pain, how they overcame hardships, and how they became easy to pains. In the fifth chapter, it consists of a main topic, pain termination, and 3 subtopics, how the 42 children enjoy themselves, meaning of happiness for helping people and dream pursuing. Every chapter will begin with the analysis of the story of each character via pictures and words, deplore different factors for different pains with Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and summarize chapters with the enlightenment of the 42 children regarding pain.
The sixth chapter summarizes the main topic, the process of pain encountering, pain acceptance, and pain termination, analysis of factors for pains and the breakthroughs with Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, aesthetic point of view of “Paradise Lost” and recommendations for the follow-up researches.
