The technology transfer between generation is very important to preserve the competiveness of traditional manufacturing industry. Thus, the stability of labor force is very critical to the sustainable growth of traditional manufacturing industry. More recently, our young generation prefers to work for service industry than the traditional manufacturing industry. Therefore, a deep understanding of the reasons behind this tendency is an important issue to regulator, management of the industry and academia. The objective of this study is to explore the factors why young generations are reluctant to work for traditional manufacturing industry. The sample consists of the college students in central Taiwan over the year of 2017. The empirical implementation processed as a two-stage approach. First of all, a questionnaire survey is performed with a careful check on the reliability an validity. Second, a standard Factor analysis is utilized to detect the factors contribute to the reluctance of young labor force to work for the traditional manufacturing industry in Taiwan. The empirical result suggests that learning and challenges, reward and compensation, prestige status, and benefits are four factors which contribute to the unwillingness of working for the traditional manufacturing industry in Taiwan.
