碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 應用歷史學系研究所 === 106 === Abstract This research focuses on the rising history of the new local public temple in Da-xi, Pu-Ji Temple. Why could the Pu-Ji Temple top the old local public temple in Da-xi, Fu-jen Temple? The running strategy which was adjusted and amended according to the change of development of Da-xi is the most important and unique part. The process of rising of Pu-Ji Temple is a miniature about the history of the economic rise and fall in Da-xi. The commerce was so prosperous in Da-xi during the initial stage of Pu-Ji Temple. The God of Guan Sheng Dijun which Pu-Ji Temple worshiped met the faith requirement of people then. They promoted pilgrimage procession to attract believer during the period of temple establishment. At the same time, Da-xi has experienced the change of social structure, the whole society has gradually becomed a professional differentiation society from geo-social society. This provided sufficient manpower for pilgrimage procession. Pu-Ji Temple also implemented continuously the charitable event and built a really good impression in people and authority in Da-xi. The local eslites got involved in deeply the business running of Pu-Ji Temple at every transformation moment. They played the role of key man in the process of being a new local public temple. They decided to invited the eslites in east side of Da-xi to join in the management committee during the time of the reconstruction and organization reform of Pu-Ji Temple afer WWⅡ. This decision made the religious sphere of Pu-Ji Temple extended to the whole area of Da-xi, so did the religious dedication sphere. Pu-Ji Temple headed to being a new local public temple. The local estiles gather more fame and reputation via this process, and enjoyed their privileged position at the same time. The pilgrimage procession stared at 1914 and last to today. It has combined the religious activities and local society together successfully by the participation of religious communities which were composed of various occupational groups、regional groups and hobby groups. It so made the religious sphere of Pu-Ji Temple bigger and bigger than before. The comprehensive religious activity development of Pu-Ji Templ’s pilgrimage procession has focused on the Shen-Chiang Culture, a tradition flok in Taiwan’s religious activities, recently. Shen-Chiang Culture has becomed the repertoire in Pu-Ji Templ’s pilgrimage procession. It has integrated the tourism industry of Da-xi、religious activities、people’s life in Da-xi and Pu-Ji Templ into a whole body by annual pilgrimage procession of Pu-Ji Templ.And find a new way to break free from industrial depression and decline of population in Da-xi.
