The traditional monitoring mode of water quality requires water body of manually, periodically and fixed-located data collected and sent to the laboratory for the analysis of water quality. This method is very time-consuming and costs lots of human resources. With the evolution of technology, we can use the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve the shortcomings of water quality monitoring. The thesis designs an instant water quality monitoring system based on the three layers of the IoT. The perception layer sets up water quality sensor in which the monitored items are water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and conductivity. The network layer uses the latest Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN), LoRaWAN, which can simultaneously achieve low transmission cost, long transmission distance, low power consumption, etc, to implement Real-time Water Quality Monitoring.
