Summary:碩士 === 國立宜蘭大學 === 建築與永續規劃研究所碩士班 === 106 === Due to the international emphasis on policies and issues related to the elderly, and the rapid growth of elderly population in Taiwan, the number of elderly people in need of long-term care will also increase. However, the care function of family is gradually diminished, and many families have to seek assistance from long-term care institutions. Under the influence of these factors, this study was conducted to explore the management of long-term care institutions. The purposes of this research are: 1.To investigate the management strategies of long-term care institutes. 2.To understand the plights that long-term care insttitutes faced. 3.To propose some suggestions for authorities and long-term care institution managers. In this research, in-depth interview was conducted. Six managers service in private leong-term care instututions were inverviewed.The research has following findings: 1.In terms of management strategies of long-term care institutions: (1)In order to maintain the health and dignity of the residents, long-term care institutions build and maintain professional teams through emphasizing the training for employees, and providing suitable employee welfare for the team members. (2)Due to limited financial resources, long-term care institutions have to carefully control their spending. (3)Long-term care institutions are dedicated to providing diversified, and innovative services, and to creating a good living environment in line with the need of the elderly, such as: accessibility facilities, fire facilities, and so on. (4)Long-term care institutions emphasize the connection among internal and external resources, and to interact with the external environment to get resources and chances for the development of institutions. (5)To ensure the quality of life of the residents in the institutions, rules and regulations were made. Besides, institution managers consider the result of institutional evaluations is essential for the development of the institutions. 2.In terms of plights the long-term care institutions faced: (1)Policies related to the long-term care institutions management become more and more strict. (2) Hardware facilities in long-term care institutions are not easy to upgrade. (3)Long-term care institutions have over relied on foreign caregivers. (4)The regulations and standards for long-term care institutions are not clear. (5)It is found that Long-term care institutions are highly profitized. Finally, Based on the findings derived from the qualitative analysis, suggestions related to the future development of long-term care institutions were proposed for long-term care industry, competent authority, and researchers.
