The main purpose of this study is to discuss the determinants of life satisfaction for middle-aged and elderly in Taiwan. In specific, we examine the effect of religion on life satisfaction. Since religion may be in an endogenous relation with dependent variable of life satisfaction, we use two-stage predictor substitution (2SPS) model to solve the endogeneity problem. The findings of this study are as follows: First, there is endogeneity between religion and life satisfaction. Second, religion, sex, marital status, sport, living area, number of children, type of residence, primary source of income, social activity, body activity, instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) and self-rated health status were significantly associated to middle-aged and elderly life satisfaction.
