Their explosive growth is encouraged by the globalization and accelerated from the integration of many financial markets around the world. Following the popular trend, the thesis focuses on assessing the performance of mutual funds. The uniqueness of this study is that I have merged the characteristics of the developed market and emerging market by adopting the mutual funds marketed in Vietnam into the sample data. 10 top mutual funds’ performances were analyzed and evaluated from January 2015 to October 2017 with different measures such as Treynor ratio, market timing, conditional models, and information ratio analysis. Using all the methodologies mentioned, the mutual funds chosen performed the benchmark selected, and the managers are capable of timing the market, which proves the previous studies’ results of many researchers. Our empirical result still delivered that the mutual funds marketed in Vietnam have been created value for investors.
